Bayside Modern
Mid-century modern meets practical, light-filled living in Melbourne's Bayside.
The Bayside Modern House was designed for a couple in the industry, with a deep love for mid-century modern design. With northern light coming from the street frontage, the layout was carefully sculpted to invite natural light deep into the living spaces—made possible by generous, lofty ceilings and a series of window openings that frame key views.
The interiors balance warmth and clarity, blending timber paneling and rich textures to foster a calm, inviting atmosphere. A series of window seats and soft thresholds between indoors and out allow the living spaces to spill into a refined. A low-maintenance garden designed for entertaining and everyday ease.
The design also responds to the client's unique requirements: the ability to stage construction while living in the home. Each decision was approached with adaptability in mind—making this a truly considered collaboration between architect and owner-builder.
Currently in development, Bayside Modern House is set to begin construction later this year.
